Using Ampd Enertainer, an advanced battery energy storage system, one site alone achieved a 15% reduction in operating costs and abated 455 tonnes of CO2.
SINGAPORE, Dec. 2, 2024 – Ampd Energy, a global energy industry innovator and manufacturer of the Enertainer and Ampd SiloTM energy storage system (ESS), has partnered with City Developments Limited (CDL), a leading global real estate company based in Singapore, to deploy the Enertainer ESS, greening the construction activities at six condominium projects across Singapore. The cleaner energy minimized air and noise pollution on the site, boosting CDL’s ongoing sustainability efforts that had begun as far back as the 1990s.
At each work site, the Enertainer replaced commonly used diesel generators that release pollutive greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and produce excessive noise. Easy to install and auto-rechargeable, the Enertainer provides the high electric current needed to power heavy equipment such as cranes, hoists and welders. It also cuts carbon emissions by up to 85% and runs 32 times more quietly.
At the Irwell Hill Residences project, CDL used Ampd Energy’s solution to cut energy costs. It abated 455 tonnes of CO2 (76% reduction), lowered operating costs by 15%, and saved 221,000 liters of diesel. About 700 manhours were also saved from tasks such as refueling, changing of filters and lubrication.
Following the successful deployment of the BESS solution at the Irwell Hill Residences project in 2022, the Enertainer has been set up at another five projects. In three of the projects - Copen Grand EC, Lumina Grand EC and Tembusu Grand, CDL is expected to cut energy costs by between 11% and 23%. CO2 will be reduced by more than 70%, with more than 543,000 liters of diesel avoided altogether.
Through this, CDL will avoid more than 764,000 liters of diesel and abate 1,770 tonnes of CO2 – the annual emissions of almost 1,000* four-room public housing apartments in Singapore. More savings are to be expected as work progresses on two other projects - The Myst and Newport Residences.
“At Ampd, we are truly delighted to be partnering with CDL, a leading real-estate organisation that has been at the forefront in its sustainability and innovation practices for many years,” said Brandon Ng, Co-founder and CEO of Ampd Energy.
“We know that the Ampd Enertainer, combined with our built-in Ampd Enernet cloud software for 24/7 real-time data analytics, can support our customers on their sustainability, operational and commercial goals today; what excites us about our partnership with CDL is the joint journey of discovery to uncover new opportunities to deliver on even more ambitious goals in the years ahead,” Brandon added.
“We are delighted to have one of our innovation eco-system partners like Ampd to help us reach our sustainability goals. The Enertainer provides the reliability and stability that construction projects need. With more awareness, contractor firms will come onboard, and this green energy effort will scale up over time.” said Ke-Vin Lim, Head of Group Innovation at CDL.
According to Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority, the building sector accounts for a fifth of all carbon emissions in the country, and sustainable construction has gained urgency in recent years with the government implementing a host of measures including Green Mark certification and grants, to help the industry go clean and green.
